Training and education

The problems

A drawing of a businessman working at his desk illustrates the BTC's personalized technology and software training services.

Computers are, for many business persons, a necessary evil. Many users, too many, know just enough to get their work done, and therein lies a significant drain on productivity and efficiency.

Each new release of a Windows operating system creates a learning curve for workers. A change in the interface or the relocation of a key menu item frustrates users and cuts into productivity. Finding a file on an individual PC is bad enough, but attempting to find it on a shared drive is impossible.

Word processors and spreadsheets are packed with thousands of features, most of which the average user never employs. Unfortunately, since that average user is too busy getting work done, he or she never has time to learn a new, different, more efficient way of accomplishing the required tasks utilizing that feature-packed software package, which has a license fee that cost you hundreds of dollars. Too bad you must pay for the features you never use.

Training classes are no answer. Either the participants are too far ahead or behind your level of comprehension for the instruction to make a meaningful impact on your efficiency. Nor does the syllabus address issues or tasks consequential to your job.

The solution

New Ventures Business Development provides the training that addresses your needs. One-on-one and small group training with you and your employees. Preferably at your office, on your computers. Performing your daily tasks.

We analyze your computer system, the software you use, your work flow and procedures, and the results you need to produce. Then we design an individualized, work-specific training program for you and your employees. It is training that improves efficiency immediately because it focuses on the work you perform regularly.

Also, we help you identify hardware, applications, and procedures that can further improve efficiency and productivity.

Rates

The one-on-one and small group training rate is $30 per hour. Basic instruction covers computer operations (Microsoft Windows only), word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, presentation, and website editing software. Inquire about specific software titles.

Specialized training covering your specific work flows, tasks, and procedures requires pretraining analysis of those areas within your operations, which usually requires two to three hours.

The rate for members of the Anson and Union County Chambers of Commerce is discounted $5 per hour.
